Ramble, ramble – welcome to my blog
Home For The Holidays on the shelves Nov 10!!!
So if you’re looking for a paper copy (as opposed to an ebook) your time starts now! People who aren’t readers of category romance are always surprised when I explain that Harlequin books are only available on book store shelves for 30 days. Of course, thanks to the internet, they’re around for a lot longer than that these days, which is great for writers, and, I hope, readers.
We’re still thrashing around in the middle of pre-moving-countries mess. I’ve been flat out doing revisions on a stand alone book that I will be start sending out to publishers in the next little while. I must say, it feels very strange to be back at square one again, trying to find someone who likes my voice and my story and thinks they can sell me. But this is what writing for publication is all about, so I am preparing to gird my loins and plunge into the fray… For anyone who is interested, the book is a bit of a departure from my Blazes and Superromances in that it’s written in first person. It’s more chick lit than straight romance, although there’s a very strong romantic subplot (couldn’t live without my romance!!!) and it’s about a woman who embarks on a journey to get healthy when she has an epiphany (of sorts) at her high school reunion and realises she’s put on a great deal of weight.
While I have never been as big as the heroine in my book, I have had my own weight/self esteem battles so this is definitely a book from the heart. And yes, it was uncomfortable writing some of the scenes, as well as very empowering and rewarding. I hope I get a chance to share it with readers. Fingers crossed!!!
Now, onto the very important subject of shoes. While I wouldn’t go so far as to say I have a shoe fetish, as such, I definitely have a thing for shoes (my man would say that thing was a credit card, I suspect!). Anyway, when I can find something gorgeous or interesting or kooky over the next little while, I’m going to post piccies of my Shoe of the Moment. This week’s is actually one of my own, a recent addition to my collection that has had a couple of outings this week.
These boots are made by a Spanish company called Prophecy. Unlike this piccie, which is dark blue, mine are dark green patent leather. Cool heel, huh? Feel free to direct me to your own favorite shoes – I’m always up for some vicarious thrills.

So much to love about this post! The SHOES (wow), the fact H4TH is out (I just ordered in on M&B Oz) and the sound of your ST! I too have battled with weight issues and love the sound of this book – hope it finds a home and we get to read it!
Rach!

Hi Rachel. Yes, the shoes are awesome. And actually comfortable to walk in. I’m not a very good high heel walker – can only get from the car to the restaurant, maybe the loo once, then back to the car and then they have to come off. But these little puppies are extremely comfortable and stable, so I might stretch my luck with them and take them on a longer outing.
As for the book….well, I live in hope!!! I think weight loss/self image is a huge preoccupation for lots of women, and I hope publishers will feel the same. Trust me, if there’s good news at any point I will be trumpeting it from the rooftops! Thanks for popping by.

I have battled with weight issues over. I joined that gym and felt great for 2 weeks then pulled a muscle in my back – my doctor said it could be the Zumba, or the Pilates, or if you could believe that I walked on an incline on the treadmill – but tomorrow I plan to go back to the gym and walk w/o the incline until I’m fully recovered.
Not into shoes – all the cute ones have really high heels and well, my back

Hey there Liz. Yes, weight is just one of those things, isn’t it? I lost a lot last year, then life got hard for a while and I let my exercise and eating slip. I tend to have a terrible tendency to always thinks “When X happens, life will be easier and I will have time to sort this eating/exercise thing out”. Of course, there’s always another crisis ready to bite me on the bum! That’s what life is like. As for the high heels, yes, I am not very good in them either. Which is probably just as well – I have enough flat heeled shoes, and if I branched out into high heels in a bigger way we’d have to buy a separate house to store them. Imelda Marcos, anyone?
Take it easy on that treadmill, but my man, who is an ex-physiotherapist, always reminds me that gentle movement is good for bad backs, as opposed to being stuck in one position for too long. Which means I should probably get up off my behind and go do something else for a little while, eh?

Thanks for the update, Sarah, and ooh, nice shoes! I am a sucker for nice shoes, although generally I have terrible taste and rely on my sister to point me in the right direction
Even better when I can simply shop in her closet ;p

Hey Fedora! Lovely to “see” you! I’m not saying my taste in shoes is great – as a matter of fact, I think I probably have slightly eccentric taste in shoes, as will no doubt be revealed if I keep doing my “Shoe of the Moment” thing. At the end of the day, it’s whatever floats your boat though, right? As for being able to shop in your sister’s closet – how awesome! I don’t have a single relative or friend who has the same size feet as me, which is pretty amazing because I think I’m the most average shoe size there is. What’s up with that?
